Walter F. Halden passed away on July 11, 2018 at the age of 82, after losing a short but courageous fight with pancreatic cancer.  He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Janet, his daughter Laura Hargrove and her husband Robert, and his daughter Ann.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Kevin and Allison, who adored him.  At the time of his passing, Walter resided in the same house in Brooklyn that his family moved to shortly after he was born in 1936.  An Erasmus High School graduate, he then attended Brooklyn Poly, graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering.  Walter worked for 45 years for the Hazeltine Corporation and its successors, assisting in designing many defense and aerospace projects, such as the Mercury Project, the Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) and Identification Friend or Foe (IFF).  An avid reader, Walter likely read every mystery in his local library.  He also enjoyed fishing and working in his garden.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
