Obituary

Proudly educated at: Visitation Academy; St. Anselm's School Class of 1938; Fontbonne Hall Academy Class of 1942 (where she met her best friend Veronica Hart); St. Joseph's College Class of 1947; and Columbia University MA in Library Science Class of 1948.

Virginia thoroughly enjoyed her career at the New York Public Library from 1948 to her retirement in 1995.

Virginia was a world traveler with wonderful tales (among many) of Australia, Fiji, Puerto Rico and going from Paris to Toulouse for lunch!  She often shared photos and slide shows of her extensive travels along with interesting commentary with her friends. Her favorite advice, especially in her later years was: "Do it now!"

Virginia's upbeat and positive attitude was infectious and made her a delightful companion and conversationalist.  She enjoyed plays, shows, museum exhibits, and reading.  She especially loved a good murder mystery!

"I was fortunate to have lived the life I lived and to have done everything I wanted to do."

Virginia was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Anselm R.C. Church for all her life.  Virginia is survived by her brother Frank Swift's children, her sister Audrey Graf's children and her best friend Veronica Hart White and Robert White's children.
