Violeta Esperanza Nunez passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 23, 2021. She was born in the Dominican Republic on July 4, 1927 to Palmenio Nunez and Mercedes Maria Mateo, who predeceased her. Violeta was the oldest of four, two brothers Carlos and Fernando Phillips and a sister Noemi Phillips. Violeta is survived by her loving aunt Aida Estepan and her children Gabriel, Manuela and Ramon; her daughter Lourdes Steffen and husband Alan Steffen; her two sons Hector Massari Jr. and his wife Georgia Massari; Juan Massari and his wife Daphne Massari; her beloved grandchildren Rosemary Steffen, Tiana and Amaya Massari. Violeta was also predeceased by her brother Fernando Phillips and two grandchildren Alan Paul Steffen and Tyrell Shawn Walker.
For over 40 years, Violeta was a pharmacist for the New York Health and Hospital system, she started her tenure at Metropolitan Hospital in Manhattan, NY, she then worked at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx for over 20 years and finished her career at Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan. Violeta was a very giving person; she loved and was devoted to her job and helping others. Violeta had an incredible love for animals which generated a house full of dogs and birds. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling and was quite the world traveler. After visiting many countries, Violeta's favorite destination was France, she even took French lessons. She loved their culture, arts and cuisine, in short anything that was French. She loved classical music and visiting museums.
Violeta leaves behind a legacy of unwavering love and support of her family.
