IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Veronica Margaret
Higgins
December 6, 1956 – March 22, 2024
Veronica Margaret Higgins was born in Brooklyn, NY, grew up in Bay Ridge, attended Our Lady of Angels Elementary School, St. Joseph's High School (Brooklyn), Pace University and the College of Staten Island.
Veronica dedicated her life to Nursing. She worked at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan for over 45 years.
Her nursing and personal networking for all family, friends and friends of friends reached further than anyone could think humanly possible. She was always hopeful, kind, caring, assertive and knowledgeable. We all depended on Veronica for her support and amazing ability to quietly listen and learn how she could help. Veronica was an incredible human being and loved by all.
Her colleagues at Memorial offered beautiful words:
"She was a phenomenal nurse who always knew exactly what do to for a patient."
"Veronica knew to 'go the distance' before it became a popular phrase!"
"Her work ethic, her nursing skills, and ability to always go above and beyond was astounding."
Veronica was the consummate nursing soldier! When anyone was in need, she guided them down the right path toward help, holding hands all the way. Her support and love for all reached far and wide.
Veronica is survived by her 5 sisters and brothers-in-law, Coleen (Jerry), Marguerite (Roy), Denise (Joe), Mary Agnes (Steve), and Kathi (Robert). As well as her nieces, nephews and great nephews and nieces - Veronica Harrison (Craig), Robert Regan (Kerri), Edward Jacob (Molly), Suzanna, Margaret Mary, Lizzie, Julia, Christopher and Connor, all of whom she loved to spoil liberally!
