Umasankar Paty was born on June 15 in 1931 in the town of Hindol in the state of Odisha in India and lived a life that was full of love, happiness, intellectual pursuit and adventure. He obtained his Bachelor's in Science at Ravenshaw College and then his MBBS degree at SCB Medical College of Utkal University in India in 1957. He met the love of his life,Lakshmi in 1952 while in Medical school. They married and traveled to the United kingdom to pursue their postgraduate education. While there he obtained his FRCS degree in Surgery in Edinburgh in 1967. He and Lakshmi with their sons Robert and Philip immigrated to the United States in 1971 in pursuit of the American dream.

He pursued further training in Urology and developed a thriving practice in the community of Bay Ridge in Brooklyn. He was dedicated to his patients and the pursuit of compassionate and high level care. He was a stellar example of a devoted and loving husband and father, grandfather, friend and dedicated physician and will be sorely missed.
