Obituary

Tracey Dennigan died on April 13, 2024, after a brave battle against cancer. A proud native New Yorker, she was born on September 27, 1956, the youngest of Annette and Martin Dennigan's three children. She was a database specialist, supervisor, and manager (and star outfielder on the softball team) at Standard and Poor's Blue List. After an early retirement from S&P, she and her partner, Kathy Giganti, founded Gates Computer Associates.

Tracey loved living in Greenwich Village, but she followed Kathy (who had left New York earlier to care for her ailing mother) to Florida to support and care for her dear companion through her own final illness and death on January 12, 2014. Tracey returned to New York, settling in Brooklyn, in 2015, where she freelanced as a data consultant. She also helped care for her mother and stepfather, Annette and James H. Cohill, enabling them to remain together in their own home until Annette passed away March 14, 2024.

Tracey loved autumn in New York, football (as a touch player and a Giants fan), reading, writing, drawing, cats, old movies, playing the concertina … and a good saloon. Her favorite was Crazy Nanny's (later Luke & Leroy's), where she enjoyed many good times, often filled in behind the bar, and helped handle the bookkeeping.

Steadfast, generous-hearted, and with a wry sense of humor, Tracey will be sorely missed by those she leaves behind, including her Dennigan siblings Nancy and Brian, and sister Ellen Donegan; brother-in-law Richard Guay; sister-in-law Zoila Grullon Dennigan; nieces Kathryn Anne Dennigan, Loren Maria Guay, Elizabeth Rose Vale, Marta Linda Guay, and Hailey Kostel; nephew Aidan Kostel; and nephews-in-law Timothy Korniarski, Rich Bykowski, and Christian Vale.

In lieu of flowers, her family asks that you remember Tracey with a gift to St. Jude Childrens' Research Hospital or The Center for LGBTQ+ New Yorkers .

Interment will be at a later date at the Basilica of St. Patrick's Old Cathedral, 263 Mulberry Street, New York, NY 10012.
