Susan Louise Miller was born on February 7, 1933 in the city of La Ceiba, in the Republic of Honduras, to Receida and Sted Miller. She was the youngest of four children born of this union, including her sisters, Daphne (Ruth) Tucker, Rita Black and brother Teodoro Miller (all deceased). She is survived by her adopted brother, Brinton Dixon.
In her early years in Honduras, Susan attended the Wesleyan Methodist School, where she completed her education and learned the trade of seamstress.
In the early 1950's she married Roosevelt Merren with whom she had one child, Janet. In the late 1960's she married Andres Velasquez. She gave birth to her second child, Charmain. Susan has two grandchildren which she loved and adored, Carmela and Leland.
After divorcing her first husband, Susan immigrated to the United States with her first daughter. From the mid 1960's until she retired, she worked as a seamstress with a fashion designer. Susan sewed the designer's original concepts. Susan was a very creative person. She was also an entrepreneur. Susan sewed bridal gown and other garments for her clients. Susan was a true feminist. She also had a unwavering faith and belief in God.
Susan departed from us on May 16, 2024. Leaving to mourn her many friends and loved ones. She is survived by her loving daughter Janet Hurley, Charmain Cassara, son-in-laws Charles Hurley and Joseph Cassara, Brinton Dixon, sister-in-law Sharon Dixon, grandchildren Carmela Cassara, Leland Hurley, nieces, nephews and cousins.
