Susan Ann Burke, 76 years old, passed away on Monday, June 5. Susan was predeceased by her father Michael and mother Adeline Burke. Susan was the granddaughter of the late NYPD Lieutenant Joseph Petrosino who was the first Italian American police officer killed in the line of duty, on foreign soil.

A lifelong resident of Sunset Park and Bay Ridge, Susan attended St. Agatha Grammar School and St. Joseph High School, received a Bachelor of Arts from St. Joseph's College, a Master of Arts from Brooklyn College, and a Professional Diploma from Fordham University.

She dedicated more than fifty years serving Catholic Education as a teacher at St. Joseph High School and as Assistant Principal at Bishop Kearney High School.

Her many cousins, Godchildren and personal friends mourn the loss of their loving advocate and friend. Friends and colleagues from her workplaces remember her as always "putting the students first" in her efforts to bring them to their highest potential.

She will be greatly missed.
