Shirley A.Wilson (nee King),82,of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, passed away after a short illness but peacefully, on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 surrounded by her family. Shirley leaves behind her beloved husband of 62 years, Joseph A. Wilson. She was the loving mother of Suzanne and Randy Kessler of Howell, New Jersey, Michael and Ana Wilson of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and Laurie Wilson-Merhi of Bronxville, New York in Westchester County. Adoring grandmother/nana of Christopher, (Marygrace), Matthew, Lisa, Michael, Ryan and Adam. Loving great grandmother of Grace Ellen. Beloved sister of Margaret and Jim Fitzpatrick, Susan and Roy Levy, and the late Alfred King Jr., and Joseph King.Survived by cherished nieces and nephews.

Born on February 28,1935 in Brooklyn to the late Alfred and Margaret King (nee Reagan). She grew up in Bay Ridge where she attended P. S. 102, Fontbonne Hall Academy for one year and graduated from Fort Hamilton High School in 1953. Shirley met her future husband, Joseph in 1950 at her late brother, Alfred Jr's, wedding. One look at Shirley, surrounded by children, at Our Lady of Angels Roman Catholic Church and Joseph knew he had found the love of his life. They dated from 1950 to 1952 until they ended their relationship. Joseph traveled in the United States for 5 months until Shirley had a party for her brother, Alfred Jr. and invited Joe. God brought them back together in late 1952. Joseph was drafted to the army in 1953 and he asked his parents to ask for her hand in marriage until he could come back. Shirley said yes and they married May 21,1955. She worked at Gulf Oil from 1953 to 1955 and after her 1st child was born she became a stay-at-home mother. While raising her 3 children she volunteered heavily at Saint Patrick's School as a substitute teacher. She was an active parishioner at Saint Patrick's Roman Catholic Church and frequently worked for the Board of Elections. Shirley went back to work in 1983 for Doctor Salvatore Capone, Ophthalmologist, as his full time office manager and continued working there with Doctor J. Freiling until Doctor Capone's death in 2012. After Shirley retired in 2012 she helped to care for her grandchildren and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. Shirley loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by them all.
