Sara B. Bleivik (nee Meland) passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2023 at the age of 98. She was born on January 6, 1925 in Skjold, Rogaland, Norway to Sigvald and Bertine Meland and spent her early years on the family farm with her parents and 5 sisters. She often shared her experiences living in Nazi occupied Norway during WWII. Sara married Einar Bleivik in 1949 in Haugesund, Norway and in 1951 they made Brooklyn, NY their home. They had two children, Eilif Steven and Betty. She would spend the rest of her life in Brooklyn, making many trips "home" to Norway and hosting many visiting relatives in Brooklyn. Sara was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sunset Park. She is predeceased by her husband Einar and her son Eilif Steven. Sara is survived by her daughter Betty and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family in the US and in Norway.
