Known as "Rock" to many or Grandpa Rocky to his grandchildren, he was born September 29, 1937 in East Harlem, New York City, the son of the late Rocco and Rosina Lamattina. In addition to his parents, Rocco is predeceased by his siblings and sister-in-law; Frank Lamattina, Peter Lamattina, Carmella Maggio and Laura Lamattina. He was a graduate of CUNY's Hunter College and a proud U.S. Army veteran; as well as an Army qualified interpreter. Rocco spent 26 years of his career as a chemist for the New York City Department of Health before retiring in 1996. Rocco is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Corsi and Christopher Corsi; his grandchildren, Gavin, Laura, Kyle and Chloe; nephews, Peter Lamattina, Joseph Lamattina and Thomas Lamattina; nieces, Toni Rose Chianetta and Christine Maggio. Rocco enjoyed dining out, dancing, watching movies and cooking. He was an avid reader and loved all things math and science related. He liked to finish off dinner with Frangelico or as Rocco would say, "Fra Angelico". Friends are invited to a funeral mass at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, July 27 at Saint Anselm Roman Catholic Church in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. He will be laid to rest in Cedar Hills Cemetery in Hightstown, New Jersey. Donations in Rocco's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society. "Period, end of report!"
