Robert E. Schmidt ("Bob") passed away at NYU Langone Brooklyn on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at the age of 73. He is survived by his daughter, Dawn Schmidt.  His wife, Donna DelValle Schmidt, predeceased him in 1982.  He will be missed by friends, family, and everyone who ever met him.  Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Queens on May 19th at 10:15am.

The son of Robert J. and Dorothy F. Grunewald Schmidt, Bob grew up in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.  He moved to Washingtonville, NY in 1980 to raise his family.  After retiring, he returned to Bay Ridge in 2016.  A graduate of Aviation High School, Bob went on to earn a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from The City College.  Bob enjoyed N gauge model trains and tinkering with computers.  He was a fan of Star Trek, Doctor Who, Hallmark Christmas movies, and watching dog rescues on YouTube.  Bob was a great cook, learning most of his dishes from the Boy Scouts.  Through the 1950s and 1960s, he was a member of Cub Pack 373, Scout Troop 373 and Air Explorer Squadron 506.  Bob was a kind man who always put others before himself.  He deserved more time.
