Philip J. Macksoud, Jr., of Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully on August 15,2026, at the age of 89. Philip was a devoted family man whose gentle nature, and laid-back spirt touched the lives of everyone who knew him.

Philip was a talented graphic designer and a creative man who left his mark in a unique way: he designed the original Tuxedo T-shirt worn by celebrities like Art Garfunkel. His creativity and sense of style were a reflection of the originality and character he brought to everything he did.

Above all, Philip treasured his family and friends. He loved spending time with the people closest to him and enjoyed a life filled with many passions, including playing golf and volleyball, spending time at the beach and at the family’s country house, cheering on his favorite sports teams. He was an avid sports fan and always enjoyed sharing those interests with the people he loved.

Philip also proudly served as a medic in the National Guard, reflecting his caring nature and willingness to serve others.

He is survived by his beloved daughter Carissa, and son Gregory; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Alyssa and Jaiya; and his four great-grandchildren, Katrina, Graziella, Christian, and Matteo. He was preceded in death by his brother, Alex, and sister, Barbara.

Philip will be remembered for his kind and mild-mannered nature, his dependability, his sense of humor and creativity, and most of all, the love he had for his family and friends. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched and through the generations of his family who loved him dearly.
