A life-long Bay Ridge, Brooklyn resident, Nicole Kasbar was born on January 5, 1971. Nicole attended St. Patrick's School, LaGuardia High School in Manhattan and Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

Nicole passed away on January 13, 2023. She was a beautiful, talented, kindhearted, most loving dance teacher at I.S. 98 Bay Academy.

Those who knew Nicole knew that she was the utmost professional who always put the needs of her students first… even before her beloved NY Rangers.

Nicole's creativity, leadership and academic rigor made her one of the 12 winners of the The Big Apple Award in 2015, which celebrates the work of public school teachers. In addition she received The Lincoln Center Arts Teacher Award which is part of the Big Apple Awards and is bestowed upon an arts teacher for making a difference in the lives of students and for going above and beyond in their role as an arts educator.

Nicole is survived by her mother, Joyce Kasbar; her brother, Paul Kasbar; her long time partner and best friend Billy Kane and many loved ones in the Kasbar, Kadri and Kane families… and the many students past and present whom she taught and mentored.

Nicole was beyond special; she was very caring and so giving when looking after her family.  She was loved by everyone she met and she will be dearly missed.

When the New York Rangers are playing, we will forever hear her cheering  "Let's Go Rangers!"
