Obituary

In loving memory of our dearest Mildred Malave
February 2, 1945 - April 4, 2023

Mildred was born in Puerto Rico along with her siblings. Mildred was four years old when she moved to Brooklyn, New York where she was raised. Not knowing any English, Mildred struggled when she first arrived at her new school, while learning a new language. It was Mildred's resourcefulness and love of her family that motivated her every move well into her adult life. Mildred's greatest joys in life are her grandson, family, chocolate, cheesecake and gardening. She always gravitated towards care, giving, and nurturing little ones as if it were her calling. Mildred created strong bonds and brought joy and happiness to everyone around her. Unless that is, you were eyeing her cheesecake.

Mildred is survived by her three children Nancy, Nelson, Ronny, beloved grandson Zackary, daughter-in-law Cristina, honorary sister Linda, her siblings Judy, Ruben, Brandon, Vincent, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. While she may no longer be physically present, she will always remain alive in our hearts and memories.

"You shouldn't cut flowers so they die, you should cut and replant the flowers so they grow." -Mildred

Family kindly requests that there be no cut flower arrangements out of respect for Mildred's wishes. Thank you.
