IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael
Donohue
November 21, 2024
Michael "Mike" Donohue passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024. He was born in Brooklyn, NY - the son of Elizabeth and the late Raymond Donohue. Mike was the oldest of six siblings, Kelley, Patricia, Colleen, Raymond and the late Barbara Donohue. He was a loving husband and caring father; he is survived by his wife Joan and daughters Kaitlin and Kelsey. Mike also leaves behind an extended family including his mother-in-law, Eileen, brother-in-law, Thomas, sister-in-law, Doreen, and son-in-law, Christopher.
Mike and Joan met in 1974 and were married in 1978 at St. Anselm in Bay Ridge. Mike was a neighborhood fixture. He was everyone's favorite soccer, basketball, swimming, and softball coach. Mike never missed a game, practice, or tournament for his two girls. He was the loudest voice on every sideline, typically despite the girls' wishes.
Anyone who knew Mike, also knew he was a perpetual helper. As a proud member of the New York City Fire Department, he embodied everything that New York's Bravest stand for. It was the honor of his life to serve alongside friends who ultimately became family. Upon retiring in 1992, Mike continued to help others as a nurse at hospitals throughout the five boroughs.
Mike was quick with a joke and even quicker with a final Jeopardy answer. He was the first call anyone made when they had a question, and he would go above and beyond to get an answer. He will be missed by many because he was loved by all.
