Obituary

Maryellen Seger (nee Kirwin), age 62, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on the morning of June 10th 2020. Maryellen was an amazingly humble woman, devoted to her wife and children, and a wonderful friend, who's main priority in life was to help others.

Maryellen was born in Queens, NY to the late Leonard and Mary Kirwin on November 7th, 1957. She was the 4th of 8 children. Growing up, Maryellen was an avid darts and pool player and loved teaching the sports to others just as much as playing them.

In 1991, Maryellen met her future wife, Marylou Seger and together in 1998 purchased a house in Brooklyn, NY to begin the next wonderful chapter of their lives.

The greatest days of her life were the birth of her son, Kirwin in 1998, daughter, Farrell in 2000, and daughter Quinn in 2003. Throughout the next 22 years she completed her dream job as a stay-at-home mom, raising her 3 wonderful children. Her family will forever cherish the exciting vacations together and great memories of sharing Maryellen's delicious home cooked meals.

Maryellen's legacy will live on in the wisdom she imparted on her 3 children who will pass on these influential life lessons for many generations to come.

In September 2013, after waiting for the legalization of gay marriages, accompanied by their beautiful family and friends, Maryellen and Marylou were legally married at Brooklyn City Hall.

Maryellen saw the beauty in the world around her and in her family. She radiated light and pure love; to be around her was to feel safe and accepted. She continues to watch over her family as a love as strong as her's never dies. She will be missed always but we trust she is in Eternal Happiness with her parents, her brother Kenny and her sister Kathy. She eagerly awaits the rest of her family's arrival. Along with Marylou, Kirwin, Farrell, and Quinn, Maryellen will be deeply missed by her siblings, Lenny, Eddie, Margo (Bob), Alice (John), and Rose; her mother in-law Madeline, in-laws Nancy (Bob), Claire (Jim), George (Annie), Christopher, Andy, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A memorial mass is being planned for November 2020.
