Obituary

Reunited in heaven with her husband Daniel of 40 years, Mary passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 28, 2026.

Mother to Mary, Andrew, Grace, and Danny and mother-in-law to Jessica, Christine, and Sean, she will be missed by all. She was the proud grandmother of her “six jewels to make a crown”: Andrew, Connor, Rosemary, Sean, Adam, and Kieran. The grandchildren will miss her silliness, songs, and playing together.

Mary was loved by her 27 first cousins on the Curran side making summer & St. Patrick's Day family memories in Spring Lake. Mary’s Benzie cousins will cherish their memories laughing about stories for years to come.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Mary attended Bishop McDonnell High School, which she’d let you know isn’t there anymore. However, the school spirit is still there, as she reconnected with alumni through the years and as recently as going to dinner just days before her passing. She said she felt like a teenager out with the girls.

Mary loved her many circles of friends: the friends she met at Our Lady of Angels, her Coffey family, her neighbors at 7401 Ridge, her Breezy people, her “online” friends, the friends she found through grief, and the people of her beloved small town, Bay Ridge.

But her greatest love of all was Daniel. Her Pollack. Her Fella. Her boyfriend. He loved Mary for exactly who she was. Mary was heartbroken these last six years after her husband’s passing. They first met while working at American Express, and not one single person knew they were dating… until all of their coworkers received their wedding invitation.

Mary was full of life. She loved to laugh, loved to go out, and loved her people.

In her own words:

“I could have a roast in the oven, and if you said, ‘Let’s go out to dinner,’ then I’m going out to dinner.”
