Obituary

Mary Frances Pryce, born August 22nd, 1931 passed away peacefully on July 5th, 2023 with her devoted son, Michael by her side. A dear mother, wife, mother-in-law to Maura, loving sister to Bridie and Noreen, aunt and cousin, Mary was predeceased by her husband, Michael Pryce Sr. and brothers: Donal, Michael, Pat, and Jerry.

Mary emigrated to Brooklyn from Knocknagree, Co. Cork, Ireland at the age of 17 in 1949. She lived with her Uncle Patrick, Aunt Della and their loving family in Park Slope who helped her to settle into life in New York. While working during the day, Mary enrolled in a night program for accounting and later worked in banking in Manhattan, primarily as an auditor. Her life changed again when she met Michael Pryce Sr. from Clifden, Co. Galway and they got married in September 1959. With son Michael, they traveled back and forth to Ireland and lived there for a number of years before settling back in Bay Ridge in the mid-1980s.

Mary was a loving and caring person who welcomed many family members into her home in Brooklyn and in Limerick over the years.  She valued her family history greatly and self-published her memoir a number of years ago complete with family photos. Mary, we will always love you.
