IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary T.
Hanley
May 18, 1939 – August 18, 2024
Mary T. Hanley was born on May 18,1939, in the Bronx, New York. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas. She is survived by her five children: Kathleen Hanley, Annmarie Hogan (Kevin), Matthew Hanley (Pamela), Timothy Hanley (Tara) and Theresa Aberle (Marc). Mary is the cherished grandmother of Chelsea, Thomas, Matthew, Ryan, Ava, Margaret, Valentina and Chase.
The second child of John and Mary Mulvanerty, Mary was predeceased by her loving brothers, John, William, and Thomas and survived by her loyal and caring sister Eileen. On August 18, 2024, Mary peacefully went home to heaven. She had been compassionately cared for by family, friends and the dedicated professionals at Calvary Hospital during a brave and long fought illness.
A devout Catholic, Mary was a long-time parishioner of Saint Andrew the Apostle Parish in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. She loved music, especially singing "Danny Boy" at many family gatherings. She cherished her relationships with her family and friends and regularly kept in touch with them by making phone calls and sending uplifting, encouraging handwritten notes. Mary made ordinary days extraordinary. Sometimes she told funny stories and played unexpected pranks. Other times, Mary provided a listening ear or offered sound advice when her loved ones needed her most. She was always present in the moment and consistently surrendered to God's will.
As a dedicated Special Education Teacher and Supervisor in the NYC Department of Education, Mary T. Hanley also supported the students and teachers in District 15.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Mary Hanley's memory to one of her favorite charities: St. Francis Bread Line , St. Andrew the Apostle Church , or Calvary Hospital .
