Mary Margaret Dwyer (Mae) died peacefully on March 18, 2022. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Mary (Scanlon) Dwyer and her lifelong friend, Jane McCormick. Mary was a lifelong Bay Ridge resident. Born on February 6, 1922, Mary was part of the first graduating class of St. Anselm's School, she graduated from St. Francis Academy in 1939, and she graduated from St. Joseph's College in 1943. Mary devoted her life to elementary education. She received a master's degree in Education from Columbia University, and she worked in the New York City public school system in Brooklyn for many years. Mary was loved by all her students. She taught first grade and later was an assistant principal. Upon her retirement, Mary enjoyed traveling and entertaining friends and family, and she was loved by all who knew her. Mary remembered every holiday, birthday, and milestone, and she made us all feel special and loved. We will remember her impeccable style, sharp intelligence, fabulous parties, strong faith, and warm, generous heart.
