Mary Agnes Atkins passed peacefully on Sunday, March 22. Mary Agnes Atkins was born on September 9, 1932 in Dumbarton, Scotland to James and Kathleen McConnell. She was the third of six siblings. Growing up during the depression and War World II, times were tough but she always knew how to have fun. She was full of life and loved to sing, dance and tell stories. In addition, she always showed her kindness and helped those in need. She loved going to the movies and watched many of the old movies on TCM

Agnes and her siblings worked at the Singer Sewing Machine factory during their early years. In the late 1950’s she came to America. She worked various jobs but her most memorable job was working at the United Nations as an elevator operator. She met many famous dignitaries including Shirley Temple Black.

Agnes was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Angels and volunteered as an Extraordinary Minister and singing in the Folk Group. She had a strong faith, and attended daily mass. She loved to participate in the various functions at OLA.

She is survived by many Nieces and nephews Ann Don, James McConnell (Annie and James), Tress Ellis, Kate Cormie, Marie Mcfall, Bobby Stewart, Julie Stewart, Agnes Robinson, Kay Stewart. Cathy and Diane.

Agnes is preceded in death by her husband Luke, her sisters and brother, Julie Folan (Frank and Patrick), Marjorie Stewart, Theresa Aitken, Catherine Ritchie and James McConnell.
