Korean War Veteran U.S.M.C. Beloved husband for 57 years to Marie A. (nee Clemente). Loving father of Martin, Mara O'Brien (Daniel), Matthew (Tracy), and Madalena Sheehan-Clausen (Curt). Dear brother of Josephine Barry (the late Richard) and Marion Robb (William). Predeceased in death by sister Margaret Connelly (Raymond)and Helen Matthews(John). Proud grandfather of Cayley, Robert, Arden, Daniel, Madalena, Alexandra, Virginia, Matthew, and James. Cherished uncle of many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. "The Duke" to Maggi and John. Born in Bronx NY in 1930 to Martin and Mary (nee Dore) Sheehan. Graduate of Power Memorial Academy, 1948. Martin was a clerk in the FBI prior to enlisting in the United States Marine Corp on Jan. 15, 1951. He was stationed in Paris Island and Camp Le Jeune as a Private First Class. In December of 1951 deployed to Europe until July 16, 1952, his last day of active duty. He remained in the Marine Core Reserve until March 30th 1959 when he received an honorable discharge as a Lance Corporal in the 3rd battalion, 8th marines, 2nd platoon. Martin attended Fordham University and graduated in 1956. Martin resided in Bay Ridge Brooklyn and was a longtime summer resident of Point Lookout, LI. For many years he volunteered as a Point Lookout Little League Baseball Coach and OLA CYO Basketball coach. While his children attended Our Lady of Angels he served as President of the Home School Association. He was a proud usher for over fifty years at Our Lady of Angels Church in Brooklyn and Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Point Lookout, LI. He was an active Member of Local Union 3 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and volunteered as a reader for the Xavier Society of the Blind.
