Marjorie (Johnson) Hotaling, beloved wife, mother, Grandma, and Grammy, passed away on September 13, 2022, at the age of 95.
Marjorie was born to Grace (McArthur) and James Johnson on November 21, 1926 and was raised in Brooklyn, NY. She enjoyed living close to her relatives in Coney Island and swimming in the ocean. Marjorie carried that love of swimming with her all her life, doing handstands in the pool and amazing her grandchildren well into her eighties!
Marjorie was married to the love of her life, Charles Hotaling, on October 27, 1951. They were happily married for 39 years and enjoyed raising their six children together, taking family vacations, and sharing pizza at Lento's.
Marjorie's strong faith was a guiding principle throughout her life. She attended mass at Our Lady of Angels Church in Brooklyn, where her children also attended school. Marjorie loved volunteering in the school library. She also worked at Wertheim Schroeder as an administrative assistant. After moving from Brooklyn, Marjorie spent time living in Staten Island and Lynbrook, NY.
Marjorie enjoyed reading, music, and drinking numerous daily cups of tea. She impressed everyone by learning how to use an iPad in her later years, and loved to keep in touch with her family through text messages, sprinkling in various emojis for good measure. Marjorie loved a good party, celebrating holidays, and never wanted to miss an opportunity for conversation. Marjorie's greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was so proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her beloved parents, her loving husband, Charles, and a large extended family.
Surviving are her six children, Kathy (Jerry) Hotaling-Bollinger, Ginny (Tom) Lynch, Pat (Andy) Marron, Charlie Hotaling, Laura (Rey) Tan, and Jim Hotaling; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff who showed care and friendship to Marjorie in apartment 403 at Norwegian Christian Home.
