Marietta Victoria Curreri, 88, of Brooklyn, NY passed away on June 9, 2026.
Born in NYC, NY on December 18, 1938 to Mildred & Lawrence Curreri, Marietta lived a life defined by education, Italian pride, generosity and a love of her grandnieces and grandnephew.
Marietta spent her entire career years working as an educator for the New York City Board of Education. She was a fierce, native New Yorker and took great pride in her Brooklyn roots. She attended New Utrecht High School and received her Bachelor’s and Master’s in Education from Long Island University. Beyond her career, Marietta was an active member of St. Andrew the Apostle's Roman Catholic Church in Brooklyn and found joy in every electronic gadget she could get her hands on, mastering the computer and taking hundreds of pictures of her family with her iPhone and iPad. Her generosity was limitless by supporting education, keeping roofs over heads and wheels under feet. She also had everyone envious of her stunning view of Owl’s Head Park and, if you poked your head far enough out the window, the Statue of Liberty.
She is survived by her nieces Lisa Daye and Lauren Carr, her nephews Jeff Carr and Jamie Carr, Robert Carr and his wife Stephanie, grand nieces, Jamie Spagnuolo and her husband Chris Burgenson, Gina Spagnuolo, Sabrina Carr and grandnephew William Daye. She was preceded in death by her parents Mildred and Lawrence Curreri and her brother Lawrence Carr and his wife Victoria.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026 at noon at St. John Cemetery, 80-01 Metropolitan Ave, Middle Village, NY.
