Born Domenica Maria in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn to Salvatore Gerardi and Caterina (Zaccagnino) Gerardi, Mae was the oldest of four children. Named after her paternal grandmother, her parents "Americanized" her name for her birth certificate.  Mae earned her Bachelor's degree from Hunter College.  She planned to teach Spanish but opted for a career in the insurance industry.  Mae was an intelligent, take-charge person who nurtured both parents through illness and death before caretaking a sibling for 32 years.  Laughter came easily to Mae.  She had a terrific memory for family milestones and a talent for cooking.  Predeceased by her parents and siblings Daniel and Beatrice and nephew Sal, Mae is survived by her sister Antoinette, nieces Cathy and Babe, nephews Danny and Jimmy, four grandnephews and a large extended family.  She will be greatly missed by her heartbroken family.
