Lilly Bach, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and tante passed away peacefully and joined the heavenly choir on Wednesday December 14, 2022, in Staten Island NY. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a kind and joyful woman who was passionate about her family and faith, dedicated to her church as a haven for all who sought the Lord, and a ruthless competitor at Uno, Scrabble, Trouble, and many other board games.
Lilly graduated from Fort Hamilton High School and worked at Eastman Business School before dedicating herself to her family in the Sunset Park area of Brooklyn formerly known as "Labskaus Boulevard." Lilly served as a parishioner, secretary, and Sunday School teacher at Trinity Lutheran Church on Fourth Avenue in Brooklyn for most of her adult life, touching countless hearts through faithful dedication. She treasured her fellowship at the Women's Circle Bible Study group. She shared an especially close relationship with her sister, a constant companion during her later life. Her fondest activities were visiting the beach, vacationing in Disney World, and spending summers with her family at "Solbakken" in Rowland, Pennsylvania. Her travels to Norway, the United Kingdom, and France were fueled by her inquisitive nature and a desire to reconnect with her heritage, faith, and family.
Lilly's curiosity, love of life, and always sunny disposition created joy for everyone in her orbit. Her legacy of godliness, kindness, compassion, and comedic flair will be remembered by all who knew her. She loved and nurtured her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with a soulful grace. By living out the words of 1 John 4:19, "We love because He first loved us," she enthusiastically prepared her heirs as the next generation in dedication to God, goodwill, and greatness of character.
Lilly, a first generation Norwegian American, was born July 22, 1928, to industrious Norwegian immigrants Thomas and Elida Kristensen. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Kenneth Stanley Bach, brother Thomas Kristensen, and sister Gladys (Kristensen) Olsen. Lilly is survived by her children Linda (Robert) Hansen and Ken (Patricia) Bach; her grandchildren Lindsay (Luis) Rosado, Hannah (Kyle) Van Osten, Kari Hansen, Ross Hansen, Madelyn Bach, and Henry Bach; and great grandchildren Lilly Ana Rosado, Elijah Rosado, Maren Van Osten, and Reagan Van Osten.
Lilly was laid to rest Monday December 19, 2022, in Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn. The family will announce a celebration of life memorial remembrance gathering for friends and family in the near future.
Memorial gifts, in recognition of the dedicated and compassionate care she received, may be given in loving memory of Lilly Bach to:
