Kathleen Costello Gennaoui “Kitty”, 68, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on May 3rd, 2026. She was a lifelong Brooklyn resident, born on December 28th, 1957 to Rose and Jack Costello. She grew up in Bay Ridge, graduating from Saint Ephrem’s School, Bishop Kearney High School and Pace University. Her father once told her “if you can type, you will always have a job” so she embarked on a career in secretarial studies, teaching at Catherine McAauley High School and several private schools. Along the way she met and married Mitchel Gennaoui, her husband of 47 years. She took a hiatus from her career to raise a family of 3 loving children, Daniel, Caroline, and John. Years later, she returned to work as the Principal’s secretary at the High School of Telecommunication Arts and Technology, where she eventually retired in 2014.
Kitty was the heart of the family. She created a home that was full of love, laughter, and music. She was a grandmother to 9 extraordinary grandchildren and she found pure joy in each moment spent with her family.
Kitty was also deeply devoted to her faith serving as a Eucharistic Minister and Minister of Consolation at Saint Anselm’s Church.
In addition to her husband, children, and grandchildren, she is survived by her brothers Michael (Maureen) and John (Sue) and predeceased by her sister Patricia (Anthony).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint Anselm Church, Saint Ephrem Church and the Parkinson’s Voice Project.
