Born in Midwood, Brooklyn on November 14, 1949.
Loving husband to Cecelia Kash-Valenti and devoted brother to Maria Valenti. He was pre-deceased by his parents Peter and Josephine, and his brother, Alfred Valenti. He was also pre-deceased by his favorite cousin, Joe Pizzi. Joey also has an extended family of aunts, uncles and beloved cousins in Riposto, Sicily who he enjoyed visiting with Maria and Cecelia.
Joe was a proud member of the FDNY and retired in 2003 from The Highway Ladder 156 in Midwood, Brooklyn. He retired from the Army National Guard after 24 plus years of service in the medical unit in Sea Girt, New Jersey.
When Joe was preparing for retirement from the FDNY, he went to nursing school and became an RN. He spent his first 2 years at Sloane Kettering in NYC and then went to work for Staten Island University Hospital where he retired.
A special thank you to the care team/managers at Sunrise Mill Basin where Joe was loved and treated like family for the last two years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation to the FDNY Fire Family Transport Foundation who were instrumental in helping Joe get to his doctor appointments and outings over the last two years.
