Obituary

Jose Curet, a man whose life was defined by deep love and steadfast faith, passed away, leaving a legacy that spans generations. His greatest love story began at the age of 13 when he started dating Luz Curet. Their 61-year marriage was a testament to enduring devotion, a journey captured beautifully in the photos of one of their very first dates.

Jose’s professional life was a reflection of his heart for others. He dedicated his career to the New York City Public Schools as a bilingual and physical education teacher. He wasn't just an educator; he was a "Grandpa" to his students. His impact was so profound that one former student maintained their bond into adulthood, eventually asking Jose to be the godfather to her first child. Prior to years of service in the New York City Public Schools, Jose served with distinction as a supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service.

Above all, Jose beamed with pride for his family. He leaves behind his son, Joseph, and daughter, Veronica. To his four grandchildren—Ashley, Halle, Solomon, and Luke—he was their biggest fan, eager to tell anyone who would listen about their talents in drawing, soccer, volleyball, and music. He loved his family deeply - he was a father figure to BJ and several family members. He was a beloved brother to Miguel, Richie, Johnny, David, Becky, Papo, and Monique. A beloved son to Fundador and Georgina Curet. A faithful friend and a devoted follower of Jesus, Jose’s relationship with the Lord was the cornerstone of his life.
