IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joanne
Rafferty-Ayoup
April 21, 1955 – January 5, 2024
Joanne Rafferty-Ayoup of Park Slope, Brooklyn was called home January 5, 2024. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Ziad. Her nieces and nephews and their spouses Richard III and MaryRose, Kimberly and Ronnie, Peter and Daniela, Laura and Sean, Christopher and Karilyn; and David. Her great-grand nieces and nephews, Richard IV, Kaitlyn, Brianna, Kirsten, Meaghan, Mia, Ryan, Peter James, Gianna, Nico, Lorenzo, Valentina, Marco and Davey; her great-great-grandnephew and niece, Richard V and June Rose. Her beloved sister-in-law, Diane.
Joanne was a graduate of Bishop Kearney High School. After graduation she took her first job with Manufacturers Hanover Bank. Her job was her true badge of honor. Through hard work and fierce dedication, Joanne survived multiple bank mergers and would be celebrating her 49th year as a J.P. Morgan Chase employee. Joanne's love and profound commitment to her family and friends is a testament to a life well lived, and well loved. She is known by so many simply as "Aunt Jo". Aunt Jo was the queen of Christmas Pajamas for all her nieces and nephews, a tradition that is a treasured memory for each of them. Aunt Jo could "peel tomatoes" with the best of them on the annual sauce making day, she would arrive early and take her seat amongst her nieces and nephews. Aunt Jo loved to watch her nieces and nephews at all ages do what they loved best, from numerous dance recitals and sporting events. Aunt Jo always had time for anyone who needed an ear to listen or a laugh to share.
Joanne loved spending time with her life-long friends, vacationing, playing cards and making memories. She was the kindest, most compassionate person in the world. So while we mourn her loss, let us also celebrate her life.
In honor of her favorite colors, let us accessorize with a little touch of pink or lilac to represent her light and brightness. Let us honor her by sharing random acts of kindness. To say she will be missed is a complete understatement. Rest in Peace Jo-Jo.
