Joan Patricia Gilroy, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024 at the age of 92. She was born on December 2, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY. She was a proud resident of Bay Ridge for her entire life.  Joan was a graduate of Fontbonne Hall Academy and St John's University. She was a teacher, communicant and Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Angels. She served as president of the Lioness club and enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society. For years, she was an election board volunteer. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Robert J. Gilroy and son, Gary Gilroy. She enjoyed ballroom dancing with her husband Robert. She was an exceptional dancer. She played the piano. Her favorite piece was "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes". Spending time with her family was very important to her. Whether it was a cruise, a trip to Disney or a car ride to Ocean City, Maryland she enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. She is survived by her children: James(Cathy), Sharon(Vito), ShelleyAnn(Reid), Carolyne(Nick predeceased) and Lloyd(Roseann); eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  She spent the last years of her life at home, being taken care of by special women she loved, and died peacefully in her sleep. Her memory will be forever cherished.
