IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jean
Martorana
January 11, 1932 – February 11, 2024
We celebrate the life of Jean Martorana who passed away peacefully at home with loving family by her side. The oldest daughter of Irish immigrants, Jean was born in Brooklyn, NY. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, and in-laws.
Jean is survived by Joseph, her beloved husband of 70 years; loving mother of Grace (Thomas), Michael, John (Lydia), Jeannine (Edward), Leah (Frank), and Thomas (Carolyn); proud grandmother of Matthew (Matilda), Rebecca (Eugene), Joseph, Gabrielle, Elizabeth (Mike), and Alexander (Ashley); thrilled to be great-grandmother of Leo, Scarlett, Fiona, Marianne, Jocelyn; and cherished by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jean leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will forever serve as a reminder of what kindness is. She had a heart of gold and always went out of her way to make sure family, friends, and neighbors were cared for and never in need of anything.
She enjoyed traveling, theater, knitting, and socializing with family and friends. However, Jean's two biggest passions were, first, listening to political discussions and currents events on talk radio and television. The more heated and animated the discussion, the more she enjoyed the broadcast, followed by lively chats about the topic. The second were trips to Atlantic City and then returning home to have dinner at her favorite restaurant, New Corner's, for a good meal, a nice glass of wine, a few games of QuickDraw, and talking with other patrons and staff.
Jean will be dearly missed by her family and friends, but they are comforted in knowing she is now at peace.
Funeral mass will be on Thursday, February 15, 2024, 9:45 AM at St. Anselm's Roman Catholic Church, 356 82nd Street Brooklyn, NY, followed by the burial ceremony at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum (located in Beth Israel Cemetery) US Highway 1 North, Iselin, NJ.
