Dr. James E. Corrigan was a Lifelong resident of Bay Ridge.  He was a Devoted father to his three children: James, Kathleen, and Diane.  He loved being a grandfather to Thomas, Isabella and Nathaniel.

He Devoted his life as an educator, helping to elevate the lives of thousands of students at St. Francis College and LIU Brooklyn for nearly 60 years of teaching. He had a passion for the sciences and devoted most of his career to research. For almost 40 years, he conducted research studies in the Gowanus Canal, at Gateway National Recreation Area (Plum Beach, Canarsie, Great Kills) and New York Harbor.

He served six years in the U.S. Army (Infantry branch) and received extensive military education and training in chemical, biological and nuclear warfare. He also provided his expertise in warfare and terrorism to the New York City Office of Emergency Management.

He was an avid supporter of the athletic department at St. Francis College. He regularly attended basketball games with his grandson Tommy.

He is survived by his sister Patricia Bjune, her husband Russel Bjune, his son James Corrigan, daughter Diane Corrigan, his son in law James Giallanza and his wife Rosalyn as well as his three grandchildren Tommy, Isabella and Nathaniel and many cousins.
