Hesdy F. Brybag, 64, of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn passed away unexpectedly of a massive heart attack on March 25, 2022 while walking home from grocery shopping. Hesdy was the fifth child born to Rudolf and Leonie Brybag and his life in his beloved Brooklyn began when he was just five years old. He first lived on St John's Place just off the Grand Army Plaza, surrounded by the beautiful Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, museums and the main Brooklyn Public Library, a fitting start to all the beauty and culture that he enjoyed for the next 59 years. His family next lived on 71st Street off Fort Hamilton Parkway for several years before moving to Bensonhurst and finally returning to Bay Ridge in 1971.
The simplest pleasures in life brought much joy to Hesdy. He loved being outside and walked the neighborhood daily. A very charismatic person, Hesdy had many friends with whom he enjoyed the parks, concerts, festivals, parades, block parties, Coney Island and all the many events that allowed him to be out and about. Mostly Hesdy loved time spent with his family, whether in Brooklyn or at his parents' Catskills home or with his brother Dennis on his boat. Hesdy totally loved LIVING his life, especially with a cold Budweiser in hand!
Hesdy was kind hearted, easy-going and loved his family deeply. He is survived by six siblings – brothers Roy, Dennis and Errol and three sisters – Jacintha, Marjorie and Cheryl, 17 nieces and nephews, nine great-nieces and nephews, and many cousins, uncles and aunts.
Hesdy will be missed very much but we will always carry his memory in our hearts. He is now reunited with his loving parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Hesdy's memory to
