IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gloria
Martini
December 21, 1925 – November 28, 2022
Gloria Martini was born on December 21st, 1925 on Spring Street in Greenwich Village, Manhattan, to Pasqualina Altomari Martini and Vincent Martini. She grew up with her older sister Anna.
Gloria attended grade school at PS 41 in Manhattan, and she attended high school at the Straubenmuller Textile High School. She became a member of the National Honor Society in 1943.
Gloria married John Miletich in 1948, with whom she had one child, Lyn. John died an untimely death, in 1964 at age 39. Gloria married Angelo Martini in 1967 and moved to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, where she lived until the end of her life. Angelo preceded her in death in 1994. Gloria's sister Anna preceded her in death in 2005.
She was expert about fabrics and skillful in crafting hand-made clothing. Throughout her life, she explored her skills as a fine seamstress. Over her adult years, she worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, for B Altman & Company, and for various other employers.
Gloria was beautiful, sophisticated, and hospitable. She took pride in her sartorial creations. She was a true New Yorker, and she loved the Village.
Gloria is survived by her daughter Lyn Miletich, son-in-law Brian Ulrickson, nieces Marisa Cella Peters and Lisa Cella Sohanyay, nephews John Cella and Alan DiPietro, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
In her last years, Gloria was beset with severe dementia but was able to live comfortably in her Brooklyn home in her last years, thanks in large part to Right at Home long-time aides Marie Campbell and Nicola Champagnie, and, in final weeks, aides Nicola Champagnie and Fay Carter, plus nurse Josiah Holmes, RN.
Gloria will be buried on December 9th, 2022 at Calvary Cemetery in Queens next to her husband, John Miletich.
