Obituary

Gary passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025, after years of illness.

Born on January 22, 1960, to the late Joan and Thomas Hansen, Gary was born and raised in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.  He later moved to the Sunset Park section of Brooklyn which was then known as "Little Norway."  He attended Fort Hamilton High School and The Fashion Institute of Technology.

Gary was a regular call-in on the Ron & Fez radio show on WFNY where he was known as the "Brooklyn Blowhard." He also could be heard on the show Weird Medicine with Dr. Steve on Sirius XM satellite radio.  His knowledge of general trivia, sports, politics and world events was astounding.  He was blessed with the gift of gab and could speak on any topic.  He was a huge Yankees fan and never missed a game.

With his kindness, wit and charm, he made friends with whomever he met and wherever he went.  He was known to many of his friends as the "Gentle Giant" as he stood 6 feet 6 inches tall.  Gary will be greatly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.

He is survived by his sisters Donna McClellan and Janice Walker, his niece Kendall Walker and his great-niece Harper Daniels.
