Frank Iula is retired NYC police captain admired for his integrity, fairness and profound administration abilities. He was commander of Brooklyn North and retired after 30 1/2 years. Frank proudly served in the US Army as a sergeant in Korea. Born in Manhattan and raised in Greenpoint Frank graduated from Boys High School and City College of New York. During his school years he played baseball and was a star football player in college, which he attended on an athletic scholarship. Later he became a skilled skier enjoying mountains of Italy, Austria, France and Switzerland and also loved skiing in Utah and Colorado. He enjoyed opera and the ballet.

Frank is predeceased by his parents Frank and Rafaela Iula, brother Basil Iula and stepdaughter Kathy Small. He is survived by his daughters Nancy Iula and Donna Iula, wife Elena Bautista Iula, stepdaughter Sandy Rashid and husband Cebo Rashid, stepson Omar Small and step grandchildren Alysha, Layla and Naeem Rashid, and Noah, Caleb and Sophia Small.

He became a jogger over fifty years ago and could often be seen running at Marine Park, Shore Parkway and high school football fields and introduced many others to the sport. He frequented a neighborhood gym daily and was known there for his comical personality. Frank found pleasure in seeing his wife Elena laugh, especially at the dinner table where his jokes and singing were a nightly event.
He lived a life surrounded in respect and love.
