Mrs. Florence Edith Bowman Forrester, 93, resident of 570 44th St. Apt. 6 in Brooklyn, New York City, died March 25, 2016 at Hospice Home at High Point. Mrs. Forrester was born September 3rd, 1922 in New York City, a daughter to the late Charles Edwin and Winnifred Godfrey Bowman. She was a resident of the same street in Brooklyn all her life and was a member of 4th St. Presbyterian Church. An active member of her community, she was a member of the Eastern Star for 70 years and was a past matron twice, was past president of the Lutheran Medical Center Auxiliary, a volunteer at Deborah Hospital and member of the Bay Ridge Garden Club. She also was a recipient of the New York State Woman of Distinction Award, given by Senator Golden. Her husband, James Aloysius Forrester, preceded her in death on March 29, 1972. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Surviving are two daughters, Paula Forrester of Johnstown, NY and Flo Gullickson and husband Larry of Greensboro, NC; two grandchildren, Merridith Stutts and husband Shane of High Point, NC and Scott Gullickson of Wyoming; and four great grandchildren, Andrew Gullickson, Ashton Gullickson, Ethan Stutts and Emily Stutts. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday in the chapel of the Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point, NC, with Pastor Bernie Hess officiating and also 10:00 Thursday at 4th Ave. Presbyterian Church in Brooklyn with Rev. David Aja-Sigmon officiating. A reception will follow the service in Brooklyn at the reception hall at the church. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr. High Point, NC, 27262.
