Edward Joseph Coyle, 89, of Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully at home on June 7, 2026. He led a long and impactful life, and his loss will be felt deeply by all those he touched.

Edward is survived by his sister Katherine Reidy, daughter Jeannine Bardo (Paul), his son Edward R. Coyle (Lisa), his four grandchildren, Jillian Clavin (Matthew), Michael Bardo (Kathleen), McKenna Coyle (Larissa), Brian Coyle (Emily), his two great-grandchildren, Quinn and Jack Clavin, and fond uncle to Edward, Kelley Ann, James, Mary Ann, and Catherine. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Mary Ann Coyle (nee Lynch).

Edward was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine. He attended night school for over a decade to attain his bachelor's degree while working a full-time job and raising a family, to advance his career, and proudly worked as a mechanical engineer for AT&T, laying the first fiber optic cables across the Pacific.

He was a talented athlete who, in his youth, was a New York State roller skating champion, and later in life, proved to be a gifted football and softball player. He shared his love for sports as a softball and baseball coach and baseball commissioner. He petitioned for a new field for St. Ephrem Little League and designed the field that stands in Shore Road Park today.

He loved to spend time with his family and friends, read, sing, work on his carpentry skills, and travel with his wife and friends whenever possible. Edward was fiercely devoted to his immediate and extended family and opened his heart and home to so many throughout his lifetime. He was a happy, loving, constant presence in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and he always made them feel safe and special. He will be deeply missed by the many who loved him.
