Dorothy Sanden was born on June 13th, 1934 to Olga and Mattias Drage. She was an only child that spent her childhood playing and dancing through the streets of Brooklyn, NY. Somewhere between dressing up cats in her dolls clothes and baptizing them and delivering Norwegian baked goods from her mother's bakery, she grew into a beautiful, independent woman who any granddaughter could be proud of to this day. Life was not always easy for Dorothy (Dottie to some) but often a smile could be found upon her lips. She raised three children while working as a typesetter but it was more like having two careers because my mother and uncles were a hand full at times. She was such a deep sleeper that it was easy to get away with night time antics though. Dorothy was an unbelievably amazing grandmother to eleven grandchildren and if given the chance I am sure the same with her eight great-grandchildren. She never forgot to call and sing happy birthday and we would all get a birthday card with a little spending money. My brothers and I spent many of our Christmases eating her Norwegian cookies with whipped cream and you could tell she loved every minute of us being around until one of us (David) threw away a mason jar from Norway but even that was quickly forgiven. When the fun times were coming to an end she would walk us to the stoop and dance while we drove away. Beste, which is Norwegian for grandma, will be missed more than words can express so I won't even try. We all know that her pain is no more and she is in Christ's arms in Heaven where she can embrace her loved ones previously passed and dance away her troubles like she did so often.
