Denise R. Ormandy (née Brick), age 74, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
A lifelong resident of Brooklyn, Denise was lovingly raised by the late Mildred “Pum” Brick. She attended Saint Anselm and Fontbonne Hall Academy, and graduated from St. John’s University, Class of 1973.
Denise and her husband, Tom, have loved one another since 1972. They raised their children in their Brooklyn home, building a life centered on family and love, while also cherishing time spent at their home in Lake George. Their 50th wedding anniversary was to be celebrated this October.
Denise was the heart of her family, and her greatest joy was raising her kids. She created a home where everyone felt cared for, anticipating each person’s needs and making sure everyone knew they were special. Deeply devoted and always present, she gave her time and love generously, making her truly one of one. All three of her kids describe Denise as their best friend, someone they wholeheartedly adore, admire, respect, and appreciate. Outside of family time, Denise found great happiness in life’s simple pleasures—sitting on her porch in Lake George, reading the paper, doing crossword puzzles, and talking on the phone with family and friends.
Denise was a beloved wife, the best mom in the world, a treasured “GeeGee,” sister, Aunt, godmother, and a dear friend to many. Her memory and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She was predeceased by her mother, her aunts and uncles Janet & Edgar Moran and Rita and Billy Dwyer, as well as her in-laws, Gertrude and Thomas Ormandy, and all the dogs she’s ever loved: Penny, Scamp, Tucker, Murphy and Bailey.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, Tom Ormandy; her children, Jill, Tommy (Amanda), and Brian (Nicole); and her three grandchildren, Shay, Oakley, and Luca. She is also survived by her sisters, Kerry Christie (Ron) and Lois McKeon (Tony), along with many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her services. See details below.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Wags&Walks Nashville or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, given her deep love for dogs (including her Wags&Walks grandpups) and children.
