David J. Mahoney passed away with his sister at his bedside at NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn on 7/21/21 after a long fight with metastatic lung cancer.  David was born in Watertown, N.Y. to John and Eleanor Mahoney in 1952.  He is survived by his sister, Mary Helen Mahoney, of Boston, many cousins, and friends.

David was a cum laude graduate of SUNY Brockport.  After a cross-country trip and a brief stay in California, David chose to live in Brooklyn, N.Y.  He loved music and was a skilled guitarist, often sitting in with a friend's band.

David enjoyed meeting new people which helped him in his chosen professions.  He initially worked in sales and marketing, and then began bartending.  He worked in neighborhood bars and restaurants including Circle's Canteena Restaurant in Brooklyn and Scopa Restaurant in New York. He was Assistant Manager/Bar Manager at the Schnitzel Haus in Brooklyn.  After retiring, David became an Uber driver, always enjoying the interactions with his customers.

Interment will follow at a later date at his family's plot at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro, N.Y.
