Obituary

Daniel Joseph MacLellan was born on June 11, 1954 to William and Marilyn MacLellan in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Danny attended OLA Grammer School, where he also served as an Altar Boy, and was a graduate of Ft. Hamilton High School. In his teen years, Danny worked at Thompsons Fish Market on 3rd Avenue. Danny was a big sports fan. He was a founding participant of the Bay Ridge Pee Wee Hockey League where he served as the Assistant Coach and then Head Coach of the Maple Leafs, accepting the "Narrows Cup" as the League Champions in 1971. Danny also excelled in playing basketball and football. Whether in the schoolyard, the gymnasium, or on the gridiron, Danny enjoyed playing sports, and he was very good at what he did. Danny loved playing basketball at both OLA and in NYC for the Federal Reserve Bank team. Danny also played touch tackle football for "Tuns Tavern", a well known watering hole at the time. Danny was a die hard fan of the Yankees, Rangers and Jets.

Dannys retired from the Federal Reserve Bank of NY where he worked for over 30 years. He was part of the Fed's delegation that went to Russia to assist in reorganizing their banking system. Danny lived for a short while in NJ, then in Bensonhurt, moved to the Bronx and finally back to where it all started, living in an apartment on Ovington Avenue for over a decade. Danny was also a long time member of the Thomas Dongan Knight of Colombus #1251.

Danny is survived by his siblings, William (Serena), Joni Staiano (Ralph), Thomas (Kathleen), his beloved nephews William, Gerard (Karin) and Joseph (Jennifer), treasured nieces Kelly, Caitlin, Meghan and Kayla, along with great nieces Berkley, Gianna, Joslyn and Diana, and great nephews Brady and Shay, and numerous cousins.
