It is with deep sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Christopher B. Rearer on January 14, 2025. Chris, 66, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose loss has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of all who knew him. His passing came too soon, and he will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.

Chris is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 40 years Andrea, his son Brendan, daughter-in-law Emily, his daughter Devin and her fiancé Evan and his granddaughters Magnolia and Azalea whom he adored. He also leaves behind his brother Bruce his sisters Alison and Kerry, his brother-in-law Dave and his dear nieces Maureen and Meagan. To his family he was a pillar of strength and his passing leaves a tremendous hole in our hearts.

Chris possessed an unwavering drive and a keen attention to detail that enabled him to accomplish everything he set his mind to. With a great sense of humor and a genuinely warm personality, he was the kind of person everyone wanted to be around. He was excited for the future and looking forward to enjoying his well-earned retirement alongside Andrea. While we are saddened by his loss, we will treasure and hold closely our memories of 'Vacation Dad'.

Chris was blessed with a remarkable career in the FDNY that lasted over 40 years, ultimately earning him the rank of Battalion Chief. Calm, composed, and always in control, he was a steadying influence on those around him. His ability to remain cool under pressure and lead with unwavering strength made him a respected and trusted figure among his colleagues.

Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we are deeply thankful for the gift of Chris's life and the many ways he touched those around him. We take comfort in knowing that his love and spirit will continue to guide us. He will be forever remembered with love, admiration, and gratitude as we strive to emulate his character through our own lives.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the FDNY Foundation or a charity of your choice in Chris's honor .
