Cecelia Syvertsen passed away peacefully on the morning April 16, 2022. She was a proud lifelong 3rd generation resident of Bay Ridge Brooklyn who spent many summers as resident of Breezy Point, Queens. Ceil worked as a High School Secretary at St. Edmund Preparatory High School where she was affectionately known for her kindness to students who needed her most. She was a Eucharistic minister with a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother.

Most importantly, Ceil spent her life in service to her family. She was the proud daughter of George Sr. and Helen McGowan who predeceased her. She was an extraordinary mother and hero to her eight children John McGoldrick (Margaret), Helen McGoldrick, Regina Sellitto (Chris), Marie Raico (Dennis), Bill Syvertsen, Clair Valecha (Manish), Cecelia Syvertsen, and Cynthia Syvertsen (Sal).  Ceil was a true blessing to her 10' granchildren John Patrick and Gregory (McGoldrick); Jenny (Sellitto); Luke (Raico); Chloe, Glenn Eric, Addison, and Ashe (Ostrander/Valecha); Noelle (Syvertsen); Isabella, Anna and Joseph (Pretigiacomo/LoGalbo).
