Catherine "Kitty" Martinelli, 86, of Bay Ridge, passed peacefully on November 21, at Calvary Hospital. Devoted wife of the late Frank. She is predeceased by her sisters Anna, Helen, her brother John and is survived by her brother Pasquale. Beloved mother of six daughters: Catherine Mastrangelo, Donna, Francine Gilberto, Lisa, Maria (Hussain) and Elaine. Cherished grandmother of Michael, Richard, Alyssa and Gerard and great grandmother of Isabella. Dear mother-in-law of Michael Mastrangelo, Richard Gilberto and Abid Hussain and grandmother-in-law of Laurie (Shoemaker) and Kevin Lewis. Her amusing and joyful personality will be missed by all who knew her. Her wonderful sense of humor endured for her entire life, including her 23-year battle with cancer. Catherine graduated from Prospect Heights High School 1947 and began work as a book keeper in the fashion industry and then the electrician's union in the same capacity. She was married to Frank on November 8, 1952 at Our Lady of Angels Church in Bay Ridge. Catherine was a Bay Ridge resident since 1949 and her presence at the head of her large family continues to be felt throughout the neighborhood. She will be remembered as a gracious host, always willing to entertain family and friends that would walk through her door, ready with a board game or a deck of cards and, of course, a seat at the table.
