Carmen Arteaga
April 21, 1948 - August 4, 2021

With great sadness, the family of Carmen Arteaga (Carmen Rivera Castro) announces her passing on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at the age of 73 years in Bloomfield, NJ.

Born in Rio Lajas, Dorado, Puerto Rico, on April 21, 1948, her sparkling personality and spirit radiated far beyond her petite stature.
Carmen had fond memories of her early years with her family and friends in Rio Lajas, and she was a proud Graduate of the Univeristy of Puerto Rico with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences. After moving with her daughter to New York City, she went on to work for the City as a case worker and supervisor of various programs providing services to vulnerable New Yorkers across the five boroughs.

She is survived by her daughter Rachell and son-in-law David Abrams, her sisters Serapia, Gladys Margarita, Dolores, and her brother Antonio.
Services will be held Wednesday, August 11 between 10 AM and Noon at Clavin Funeral Home in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a charitable donation to the the Foundation for Women's Cancer or the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence .
