IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Beth Claire
Schier
January 24, 2026
Beth Claire "Bethie Boo" Schier (née Horan), age 77, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, in Brooklyn, New York, the city where she was born and spent her life surrounded by those she loved.
Born on November 4, 1948 in Brooklyn, Beth was the cherished daughter of William and Dolores Horan. From an early age, she embodied a spirit of generosity and compassion that would define her throughout her life. Known affectionately as "Bethie Boo," she was a constant source of warmth and kindness to all who knew her.
Beth shared a remarkable 50-year marriage with her beloved husband, Walter Schier. Their enduring partnership stood as a testament to love, commitment, and mutual respect. Together they built a life filled with shared memories and deep devotion.
Family was at the heart of everything Beth did. She was a loving sister to William Horan Jr., Jane Pedersen, Bryan Horan, and Kerry Horan. Her role as an aunt brought her immense joy—she held close bonds with her nieces and nephews: William Horan; Krista Eckart; Michael Pedersen; Amy Beth Ariola; Mary Anna Lavender; TJ Schier and Tim Schier. She also delighted in the lives of her great-nieces and great-nephews: Grace Horan; Jackson Eckart; Bethany Pedersen; Miles and Mia Ariola, Jeff, Casey, Peter, Shi, Jordan Courtney and Matt Schier.
Beth's nurturing nature extended far beyond immediate family. She was always a caregiver—someone who instinctively offered comfort and support to others. Her generous heart touched many lives, whether through thoughtful gestures or simply being present when someone needed her most. She never missed a holiday or special occasion without sending a card or making a phone call or text, a small act that left lasting impressions on those fortunate enough to receive them. She loved shopping and was always the best dressed at every occasion. Beth and Walter loved to travel and Aruba was their favorite place.
She will be remembered not only as a devoted wife and aunt but also as a treasured friend to many cousins and lifelong companions who were drawn to her warmth and sincerity.
May her memory be a blessing and bring comfort to those who knew her and continue to inspire acts of kindness in the world she leaves behind.
