Arlene Bray, 75, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving daughters and family on September 18, 2020 after a courageous fight with breast cancer. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Terence. She is survived by her daughters and their spouses: Sheila and Jay (Crowley), Arlene and Bob (Santagata), and Christine and Aladdin (Ismail). She was a loving grandmother to her 6 grandchildren: Amanda, Ryan, Michael, Jake, Timothy and Luke. She was also eagerly anticipating the arrival of her first great grandchild, Braylinn, in a few months.
Arlene was a lifelong resident of Brooklyn. The daughter of John and Evelyn Maher. The oldest of five children; she was predeceased by her brothers Edward and Dennis, and is survived by her sister, Diane Dempsey and brother, John Maher. She was a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews.
Arlene dedicated her life to her family and stayed at home raising her girls until they were old enough. She then worked for many years at the office of Dr. Robert Alperin; she was the friendly face of help and compassion to everyone who walked through the door.
Arlene was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish and devoted in her faith. She was a pleasure to everyone who came in contact with her. She was a pillar of strength for all who knew her and she will be forever missed. Although she may now be gone in body, she will continue to live on in the hearts of her family forever.
